CAROUSEL HOUSE DAY PROGRAMS

MONDAY
ADULTS WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY
Meets from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., October through May. Activities include physical fitness, ceramics, art, special events and trips. The first Monday of the month is drop-in day for anyone to stop in to see what we offer.

SUMMER WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Ages 16 and over, league play begins May and runs through August.

TUESDAY
MENTALLY DISABLED YOUNG ADULTS
Activities include arts & crafts, sports, games, exercise room, trips, music and special events. Meets 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, October to May.

WEDNESDAY
VISUALLY IMPAIRED ADULTS
Meets weekly from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Activities include bingo, cards, music, luncheons, special events and trips. The season runs October through May. The first Wednesday of each month is a Drop-in Day for anyone to stop in to see what we offer.

FRIDAY
MENTALLY DISABLED YOUNG ADULTS
Group meeting from 9:15 AM to 2:00 PM October through June. Activities include swimming, arts & crafts, sports, special events and trips.

SATURDAY
JUNIOR WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL - Katies Komets
Open to boys and girls ages 8 to 19. Practices are held Saturday mornings from 9:15 AM. to 11:30 AM for 14 - 19 years old and from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM for 13 & under. The team will travel to different cities on the east coast to play in tournaments. The Katie Kirlin Jr Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is scheduled to take place in January at the Carousel House.

ADDITIONAL CAROUSEL HOUSE PROGRAM/ROOM USAGE

AQUATICS
The Carousel House swimming pool provides both recreational and instructional programs. The pool is heated at an average temperature between 86 and 88 degrees with the air temperature between 88 and 90 degrees. The pool is available to special education classes, individuals with various disabilities, group homes and organizations which represent people with disabilities. A medical release is needed to participate in our aquatics programs.

ATHLETICS
Programs are offered in wheelchair basketball, quad rugby, track and field, wheelchair racing and Special Olympics sports.

EXERCISE ROOM
Available to all people with disabilities, ages 16 and over. All universal type equipment is wheelchair accessible. Other equipment includes free weights, rowing machine, exercise bike and stair climber. A medical release is needed for use of the exercise room. Yearly membership is $15.

ARTS/CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
A variety of cultural activities are offered in ceramics and other arts and crafts. The arts and crafts/ceramics room is available for group usage. The music and choral programs are coordinated through the Settlement Music School.

COMPUTER LAB
Available to participants of all ages. Reservations are required. Group lessons may be offered.

If public & parochial schools are closed or close early due to inclement weather all programming will be canceled.
